A 20-year-old man has been arrested by the Uttarakhand Police for the alleged rape and murder of a teenage girl in the Udham Singh Nagar district. The suspect, identified as Rajiv Kumar, was taken into custody within 12 hours of the crime, which occurred in the Amiyawala village of the Jaspur area.
According to SSP Manikant Mishra, law enforcement officials have recovered a blood-stained blade and the clothing worn by the suspect during the incident. The victim, a Class 8 student, had gone to the sugarcane fields to gather peels for her livestock when she was followed by the accused. Reports indicate that when she resisted his advances, he brutally killed her.
Delhi Police Arrests Former Advocate in Ponzi Scheme
In an unrelated case, the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police has detained a former advocate for allegedly orchestrating a large Ponzi scheme that defrauded investors of around Rs 100 crore. The accused, identified as Sanjay, 36, from Geeta Colony, was reportedly operating the scheme through various companies, including Trade Cops Pvt. Ltd. and Tradecop Financial Services.
Sanjay, who had previously been incarcerated in Karnal jail for a similar offense, along with his associates, including fellow advocate Deepak Thakur, solicited investments from the public by promising a fixed monthly return of 8%. They claimed that these profits were generated through advanced "in-house algorithms" that could yield over 20% monthly returns in the financial markets.
